Yanet Candido named WVC women's soccer coach

Women's Soccer coach Yanet CandidoYanet Candido is the new Wenatchee Valley College women's soccer coach. Candido replaces Lori Van Lith, who will finish the season on Dec. 31.

Candido is a WVC alumna and played for the Knights women's soccer team in 2006 and 2007. She was a two-year Northwest Athletic Association of Community Colleges (NWAACC) All-Star, single season leading scorer, career leading scorer, team captain in 2007 and offensive MVP in 2006. She served as the assistant women's soccer coach in 2009.

She continued her soccer career at Northwest University in Kirkland, where she earned her bachelor's degree. In 2011, Candido was named team captain and second team all-league for the National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics (NAIA) conference.

Candido is looking forward to providing valuable experience to the young and talented freshmen on the women's soccer team.

"Yanet is passionate about soccer at the junior league level and about recruiting quality student athletes," said WVC Athletic Director Greg Franz.

John Wright has returned to WVC to serve as Candido's assistant coach. Wright served as assistant coach for the Knights men's soccer team from 2004 to 2006, head women's soccer coach from 2005 to 2008, and head men's soccer coach in 2009.He has been a club and high school head coach for eight years, he helps train a GU13 Wenatchee Fire Premier team, and he has been an instructor for numerous soccer camps and a member of the Washington State Youth Soccer Association instructional staff, which conducts coaching clinics. Wright is the current alternate commissioner for Eastern Washington District 6.
